TEENAGERS can't complain they are in the dark - thanks to a new information centre.

The advice shop is based at Elton youth and community centre and is the first of its type in the borough.

It was formally opened last Friday by David Chaytor, MP for Bury North.

Each youth club in the borough must develop similar projects under Bury Council's youth strategy.

Ms Dawn Cretney, who runs the centre, said a range of information was available for young people from sex, contraception and drugs to how to get a job in the European Union.

The Elton centre is open on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7-9.30pm and on Thursday from 7.30-10pm.

There are plans to open the centre during the day and, if there's a big demand, have an appointments system.
