A WOMAN was attacked and robbed in Clock Face as she got into her car on her way to the post office with the afternoon takings from the off-licence where she works.

The victim left Huttons Off Licence in Four Acre Lane with the money at about 3.20pm on Monday, July 20. As she got into her car, she felt someone pull at her hair then grab at the cash bag.

The woman kept hold of it and a struggle ensued before the male attacker pushed her to the ground and snatched the bag away. He ran off but the woman got up and gave chase.

At the junction with Jubits Lane, she flagged down a motorist and asked him to follow the robber. She then stopped another car and got in to follow her quarry but the robber turned right from Jubits Lane into nearby Walkers Lane where, 50 yards down, he jumped into the front passenger seat of an E-registered red Volvo 340 which drove off.

She described the man as white about 5ft 8/9ins tall of average build and wearing a dark-blue jacket and a black woollen cap.

The robber's car is thought to have been parked in Walkers Lane for several minutes. Anyone who saw this or the incident outside Huttons off-licence is asked to contact DC Andy Johnston at St Helens CID office on 0151 777 6064 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
