FIFTY-year-old furry pal Sooty will be making a guest appearance at Burnley General Hospital's children's ward.

He is making an appearance at Burnley Mechanics from August 6 to 8 with his show of The House That Sooty Built, and is taking time out on August 6 to visit the children at the hospital.

Tickets have been provided for some of the long-stay children on the ward.

Mechanics marketing and publicity manager Jacqui Livesey said: "We had booked the Sooty Show to appear in Burnley during the school holidays some time ago, and when the idea of a visit to the children's ward to celebrate Sooty and the NHS's 50th birthdays was put forward, we simply couldn't resist."
