THE car involved in the horrific hit-and-run accident in which two Blackburn women were injured has been traced to the Stoke area.
Police have quizzed the owner and the man who was in charge of it in Blackburn on Thursday.
They are anxious to trace witnesses to the accident which left the two women injured.
They are also trying to find the car which they believe may be undergoing repair in the Potteries.
The accident happened just after midnight yesterday in Barbara Castle Way, Blackburn, when a white H-registered Peugeot 309 hit the two women crossing the road near a pelican crossing.
Tracy Woods, 23, of Larkhill, Blackburn, was today "comfortable" in hospital with two broken legs, a fractured skull and pelvic injuries.
Her friend, Melanie Atherton, 27, of Canterbury Street, Blackburn, was slightly injured.
After the accident, it is believed the car lights were turned off before it sped away.
Witnesses have told police the driver was believed to be an Asian man wearing a red Helly Hansen jacket with a yellow collar.
