A FORMER civil servant has become the new chairman of the Burnley and Pendle branch of the Headway National Head Injuries Association.

Margaret Monckton, a member of Burnley College Corporation, does voluntary work at Pendleside Hospice and became active in Headway through her work in the Employment Service and the Disability Service.

Mrs Monckton, who lives in Briercliffe Road, Burnley, has a special interest in special needs students at Burnley College and previously spent 15 years advising and counselling disabled people in the world of work.

She is also a member and former president of Soroptimist International of Burnley.
