AN ASIAN Gulf War veteran who claims he suffered a decade of racial harassment today resumed his long-running battle for compensation against the Ministry of Defence.

Nasar Khan, 33, of Blackburn, hopes an industrial tribunal in Manchester will allow his case to be heard.

He has brought his action under legislation introduced last year which enables serving soldiers to take race grievances to tribunals.

The MoD was due to argue that the alleged incidents took place between 1988 and 1996, so the complaints had been brought outside the normal time limit.

Khan, a lance-bombardier with the 12th Regiment Royal Artillery, joined the Army in 1988.

He claims he was subjected to harassment and abuse despite complaining to superior officers.
