IF Mrs Eveline Price required a ramp to give her access to her home (LET, July 20), why did she buy a property which was obviously not suitable? I assume she did not buy the house unseen.

Why should Hyndburn Council pick up the bill because Mrs Price did not make sure doors were wide enough for her wheelchair when she purchased the house?

I know of many other people in Hyndburn who have been on the waiting list for a grant for some time; people whose houses have become unfit or unsuitable for them, not people who have bought an unsuitable house and then expected someone else to put it right.

Maybe the Lancashire Evening Telegraph should try putting pressure on our MP Greg Pope, regarding the amount of unfit housing in Hyndburn and the lack of resources to do anything about this.

Perhaps if he concerned himself with trying to put the borough's case to central government rather than taking cheap shots at the council for publicity, the housing situation might improve for everyone.
