WHILST accepting that the policy of buying young players is a sound investment, as opposed to spending silly money on old players as some clubs have done, I am a bit concerned to see that, as yet, the Rovers manager has not seen fit to bring in a playmaker in midfield.
For while we have Billy McKinlay as the midfield general, we don't have a midfield player with the tactical ability to command and distribute balls to our forwards.
This was clear last season and I'm afraid that until we fill that position, we will not be able to compete with the top clubs in the Premier League.
