REGARDING your report (LET, July 22) on the plan to rejuvenate Blackburn's dilapidated railway station, may I suggest the following long-term investment?
Divert the present station to the old East Lancashire warehouse which should meet present-day requirements. Retain the up and down slow lines for freight train traffic.
The present station should be demolished, retaining the listed station roof, and be replaced by an entertainment centre similar to what has taken place at the old Central Station in Manchester.
This project would rejuvenate the town centre and increase rail travel to the entertainment centre.
