YOUNGSTERS dipped their toes in the water when they learned canoeing and other watersport skills at Thompson Park Boating Lake in Burnley.
And for 14-year-old Rhys Roberts it was a successful excursion when he won the race and earned himself a T-shirt.
Canoeing is one of a host of events from wind surfing and golf to snooker and ice skating to be organised by SPLASH, sports and leisure at the summer holidays.
Besides local activities there are also events further afield with a trip to Manchester United museum at Old Trafford, caving in the Yorkshire Dales and swimming at Blackpool's Sandcastle.
Events continue until August 7 and more information is available from the Thompson Centre on 01282 434301.
