STUDENTS are celebrating success after passing degrees in a scheme organised by Accrington and Rossendale College.

The college teamed up with Liverpool John Moores and Sheffield Universities to offer higher education courses.

And 36 students are beaming with pride after hearing their results in subjects ranging from media studies to technology.

Martin Crabtree, of Maple Crescent, Rishton, and Claire Smyth, of Belthorn Road, Belthorn, both received first class honours degrees in media studies, which had a 100 per cent pass rate this year.

Another candidate, Claire Towler, of Beech Street, Great Harwood, gained a 2:1 in media studies and now works in the promotions department at the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.

David Tyas, co-ordinator of higher education at the college, said: "These excellent results demonstrate how much work the students have devoted to their studies.

"They also indicate the quality of our programmes endorsed by the two universities."
