GOOD mates Steve Grimshaw and John Webster have suddenly stopped talking tactics.

The coaching duo with Leigh East and Leigh MR are planning ahead for the 18th Champions Challenge, which this weekend kicks off a new Rugby League season at Twist Lane.

East step in following a late withdrawal. They face Widnes Cup winners Farnworth on Sunday (1.30pm).

Next game on is MR against Eccles - with the Sunday winners to face each other in what could be a tingling semi.

On Saturday (1.30) Lancashire Cup winners Waterhead kick-off the comp against Siddall of Halifax; then Ken Gee Cup winners Rose Bridge face top Cumbrians Wath Brow.

Before all the big games (10.30) the Hilton Cup for U13s offers great rugby over the next three weekends.
