SCOOBY Dooby Do, where are you? We've looked so hard to find you...

The heart-broken Birkett family have patrolled the streets of Preston, Bamber Bridge and Lostock Hall in a bid to track down their precious pet Scooby.

Mum Tina and her children - Laura, six, Emily, four, and Jack, three - were so desperate to find their dog they enlisted the help of friends, relatives and strangers to join the search.

Teams have scoured the area, by car and on foot, in the hope of spotting the nine-year-old black collie-labrador cross.

He went missing on June 10, five days after the Birketts moved from Lostock Hall to Walton Park in Preston.

The following day former neighbours saw Scooby (pictured) outside the Birketts' old house but didn't think it was anything unusual because he had wandered off in the past. But despite several sightings - near the Spar, in Lostock Hall, and at a petrol station in Bamber Bridge - Scooby is still missing.

Tina said: "He is quite streetwise and has gone missing before - but he's always come back. On this occasion he seems to have lost the scent.

"The kids and I have been driving around the area, asking people if they have seen Scooby and putting up posters."

She added: "I have had appeals in the lost and found sections of newspapers and even put a plea out on local radio."

The Birketts' other family pet - a Rhodesian ridgeback called George - is also pining for Scooby.

Tina said: "The children aren't the only ones to miss Scooby. George is lonely too. They were inseparable."
