LANCASTER City gave some of the players they are looking to sign up a run out last night against fallen giants Manchester City.
The Unibond club played the once mighty club from Maine Road in a pre-season friendly.
Speaking before the game a senior member of the back up team at Giant Axe, Mick Hoyle, said manager Alan Tinsley was checking on the form of a few of the players. The club are determined to have a squad strong enough to gain promotion from the Unibond League and join rivals Morecambe in the Conference next year.
"We haven't signed anybody this week but we are looking at a number of players. Alan Tinsley will be checking out a few of Manchester City's players tonight," joked Mick. Top stars from Maine Road who showed what they could do at Giant Axe included England under 21 international Michael Brown and Jim Whitley.
