HAYDOCK CC enjoyed a convincing victory at Halsall.
Batting first, Haydock looked in control until Billy Hurst was dismissed for 19.
Darren Mathews, though, played a captain's innings of 72 as Haydock reached 175-9.
In contrast, the Halsall batsmen found the Haydock difficult to deal with.
Dave Burrows returned 3-40, Andy Bentham took 2-30 and Ian Brown took 2-11 as Halsall were all out for 131.
It was a different story for the second team, who entertained Fleetwood Hesketh.
The visitors batted first and were bowled out for 154.
Steve Plant grabbed a hat-trick as he took 3-31 and Barry Jordan claimed 3-58.
After tea, the Haydock batsmen struggled to 105 all out.
