Lancaster 147-8 Kendal 150-3

PUT in to bat, Lancaster always found runs hard to accumulate after opening batsman David Heywood was caught by Andrew Mawson off Adrian Potts for nought.

Lancaster professional Andrew Lawson and Phil Dennison added 51 runs for the second wicket, before Lawson was caught by Terry Hunte off Ellwood for 16.

Lee Marshall and Dennison took the score on to 105 before the former was caught by Fearnyough off Terry Hunte for 19.

Five runs later, Brian Phillips was caught by Mawson off Ellwood for a single. Half the Lancaster side were dismissed for 126 when Phil Dennison was caught by Potts off Wilson for 62.

Lancaster then lost 3 wickets for 16 runs and their innings closed on 147-8. Kendal off-spinner Richard Wilson took 4 for 10 from 6 consecutive overs.

The visitors put on 28 for their first wicket before Andrew Mawson was dismissed hit wicket off David Jolleys for 17.

Two runs later his opening partner Jimmy Moyes was caught by Jolleys off first change bowler Phil Dennison for nine. Then Terry Hunte and Kendal's South African professional Ross Veenstra changed the complexion of the game.

They added 110 runs for the third wicket before Hunte was caught by Jolleys off Lawson for an aggressive 52. He hit one six and 5 fours.

His six hit the pavilion roof. Veenstra who remained undefeated with 60 finished off the match with a six, and four off Ian Ledward.

Kendal won with 7.2 overs left and Veenstra hit one six and six fours.
