PNE 2 Celtic XI 1 THE Danes, Swedes, Italians and Dutch were all missing when Celtic arrived at Deepdale.
However a crowd of 3,807 were not disappointed after North End produced a strong performance to beat the Scottish youngsters, 2-1.
A quiet first twenty minutes came to life when Lee Cartwright crossed for Sheffield Wednesday trialist O'Neil Donaldson.
The tall forward headed the ball on to the bar, with the rebound falling to striker Kurt Nogan who missed an easy chance.
On 37 minutes midfielder Mark Rankine played a one-two with Donaldson before slotting the ball home to make it 1-0.
Gary Parkinson had a shot tipped over the bar before Julian Darby blasted a 25 yard shot in to the goal. As the home fans cheered, the referee's assistant flagged for off-side.
In the second half Celtic midfielder John Paul McBride equaslisded before many fans had returned to their seats.
But ten minutes later Murdock made amends for an earlier miss when he rose to head home Holt's left foot cross.
PNE boss Moyes must have been satisfied with Cartwright's form.
