MANAGER David Moyes has issued a must improve message to his players as the new season approaches.

Moyes said his team must get better if they are to achieve promotion next term.

"The team have played together for a full season and it's now time to improve their performance on the field."

The Scot also added that last year's summer signings must produce the goods this season.

"A lot was expected from them when they arrived and I will now look to them and the rest of the players to pull together and gain some success."

This season will be David's first start as a manager and he is now looking forward to it a great deal.

"It's very much a journey into the unknown for me and I'm sure I will find out new things each day. You never know in football what's around the corner but hopefully it will be an enjoyable and successful season."

David said he was pleased with new left back Dominic Ludden who has been on trial at Deepdale for the last three weeks.

"Dominic has shown me what he can do in the three games I've seen him. We are delighted to offer him a one year deal.

"His signing certainly helps the problem we had at left back and will now give me the option of moving Ryan Kidd into the centre half role."

That's something David may try this weekend when PNE play in a four team tournament at Deepdale for the Bill Shankly Shield.

Manchester City, Tranmere Rovers and Barnsley will be the visitors to Deepdale - an event David is looking forward to.

"It will be great for the fans to see teams who haven't been to Deepdale for a few years. Hopefully it will be the start of an excellent season."
