I WONDER how many people believe that Miss V Smith (Letters, July 23 and 24) is a genuine Labour supporter.
I must, however, agree with her comments on spending at No 10 Downing Street, but maybe that's because Labour have more friends to entertain than the Conservatives.
And if Tony Blair has voted 'only 14 times' in the Commons, that, I think, beats John Major and Margaret Thatcher in their first years of office.
If Miss Smith is now disillusioned with Labour, the Conservatives are desperate for new members and if she joins them in body as well as in spirit she will be assured of a warm welcome.
I also have reason to believe that they have a vacancy for a publicity person.
G SMITH, Bold Street, Blackburn.
