A NEW bakery could be built in Nelson if councillors agree to sell a parcel of council-owned land.

Bannister's Bakery, which has three shops across Pendle, wants to buy the site at the corner of Netherfield Road and Southfield Street, Nelson, so that it can move its existing bakery from Barrowford.

The bakery has offered £25,000 for the land and the council's resource management committee is recommended to agree the sale when it meets on August 18.

Bannister's already has planning permission to convert its bakery on the first floor above its shop in Gisburn Road, Barrowford, into a restaurant. The ground floor shop would remain as it is.
