KIM Rostron survived a bout of food poisoning to take her place for the start of the Curtis Cup today.

The Clitheroe golfer was one of four Great Britain and Ireland players to sample the hotel's vegetable lasagne the night before yesterday's practice round.

But all had recovered for the biggest competition in women's amateur golf against the USA at Minneapolis.

Rostron and Elaine Ratcliffe, another lasagne victim, take on US Open sensation Jenny Chausiriporn and Beth Bauer in the first foursomes match.

Temperatures are in the mid-70s, much lower than expected when the team underwent heat acclimatisation sessions at Loughbrough University.

Lora Fairclough held on to her lead in the German Open after a second round 71.

That included two birdies and one bogey, her first of the two rounds of wind and rain.

Fairclough, back under the attentions of Chorley pro Howard Bennett, leads by two shots from Trish Johnson and Sophie Gustafson.
