LOCAL sides had mixed fortunes in their quest for FA Cup glory!
Atherton LR beat Sheffield 4-2 while neighbours Colls were dumped out of the 1st preliminary round 2-1 against Armthorpe Welfare.
LR set off at a blistering pace at Sheffield to take an early three goal lead and effectively kill off the tie.
Home defenders were at sixes and sevens trying to cope with LR's pace and they never mastered it.
Steve Bird got the first on 22 minutes, closely followed by a Timmy Leather strike.
Cunningham scored from close range on 36 minutes before Jonathan Dunne got the fourth.
They now entertain Chester-le-Street on September 19.
Atherton Colls went out with a promise of brighter things to come.
A lacklustre home display saw them deservedly beaten by the Northern Counties East Premier Division side.
Nick Harrison brought the only cheer for home supporters with a stunning finish.
Former manager Alan Lord is to return to the club to take over the first team reins.
