TWO missing East Lancashire men have turned up safe and well after searches involving the police helicopter and dog handlers.
John Riley, 27, of Burnley, turned up yesterday afternoon and Brian McArdle, 44, of Rawtenstall, was discovered at his sister's house later in the day.
Lancashire police used the force helicopter to search the Clowbridge area for Mr Riley, who disappeared on Thursday afternoon after being discharged from Burnley General Hospital.
He returned home to Baker Street but no-one was in. When his girlfriend returned she found a note and contacted the police. Mr Riley turned up almost 24 hours later.
The helicopter was also used to search an area around Rawtenstall, Lumb and Waterfoot, broadcasting appeals for anyone who had seen Mr McArdle who failed to return to Heightside Nursing Home, Newchurch Road, Rawtenstall, after going out for a New Year's Eve drink.
Mr McArdle, who used to live in Nelson before moving to Rossendale, was found at his sister's house.
