IT TAKES a lot to get me going, but reading the remarks of a so-called lifelong Rovers' supporter (Sports Letters, December 22), my blood was boiling.
I am sick to death of listening to a succession of these fans whingeing and complaining about the Top Tenner tickets, and pretending to be full of concern about the predicament of the Rovers next year.
The only concern that these people have is for their back pocket. They harp on constantly about the so-called kick in the teeth that they receive from the club - while at the same time delivering the greatest kick in the teeth possible to the Rovers - negative publicity.
I care deeply about my club and I am delighted that at last they are showing some initiative concerning growing the supporter base, but I am furious about the pontification of these people regarding these undefined losses they supposedly incur.
If they cared to do the sums at all, and I refer you to "Colin's Cheeky Bits" fanzine issue 32 (Loadsamoney), they would find that they could potentially save a princely £17 per season if they take up all the offers, or a stunning £2 per season if they ordered all the tickets by phone!
So come on, let's be serious! Is it really that important to save these trifling amounts of money, or would you really cut your nose off to spite your face and not go to the matches at all next season?
Come to think of it, you won't be missed if you don't, and maybe you can get a cheaper deal watching Second Division football up the road in Burnley!
