BEING, as he is, leader of the ruling-Labour group in Hyndburn, Councillor George Slynn hasn't any option but to accept any criticism or compliments made about his party.
You have to accept the pain with the glory. And as for him deserving praise (Letters, December 29), I can't think of anyone who has antagonised more people over the last few years with his dictatorial attitude, especially over the free parking fiasco, traffic-calming and the amount of money being spent on the Globe Centre, in Accrington.
And for Councillor Dave Forshaw's information, they didn't turn a once-derelict building into the Globe Centre, only the facade and small portion of the building was left standing; all the rest is new.
And speaking of new buildings, what's happening about our new market, new bus station and new cinema complex, or will we be getting a bandstand and water fountains in the Scaitcliffe area first?
Let's have some decisions now, instead of empty promises nearer the local election time.
