THE UK's craze for computer games helped retailer Electronics Boutique - which has a store in Blackburn - hit a super score over Christmas.
Record sales of Sony Playstations were the driving force behind a 31 per cent sales increase in the five key weeks to January 2 compared with the previous year, and now the company is looking forward to extra profits from software.
Chief executive John Steinbrecher said: "This was an excellent Christmas trading period.
"Record sales of Sony Playstation consoles were supported by a strong line-up of software titles, led by Fifa 99, Tomb Raider 3 and Legend of Zelda.
"In the UK the combined installed base of Playstation and Nintendo 64 consoles roughly doubled to over 5 million during 1998, which should make 1999 an excellent year for software sales."
