A COUPLE who run a karaoke business have offered a reward for the return of £6,000-worth of equipment which was stolen from their van.

David Goodwill, who runs Goodies Karaoke with his wife, Shirley, had parked his Nissan Vanette on Asda Car Park, Burnley, at 1.30pm on Thursday.

His son Darren, was in the vehicle while David went to do some shopping, but thieves struck when Darren went into the shop for 15 minutes, breaking the passenger lock and removing the equipment.

David, 60, of Brierfield, said: "I had to rush out yesterday to buy new discs so we could keep our regular date at the Water's Edge, Ewood, Blackburn. "They stole a black case continuing two Pioneer laser players, a GMG Dax amplifier and another case with a Peavey convertor, a graphic displayer and £2,000-worth of graphic discs.

"It is a sickener. I am sure someone must have seen something because the car park was very busy and there were plenty of people about and the larger case weighs 85lb.

"I would not normally leave the equipment in the vehicle, but I had just picked it up from Burnley Miner's Club and I needed to get some food.

"It is bad enough having something stolen, but when it is you livelihood they take it's terrible. They will probably not realise what they have and sell it for next to nothing."

David's wife Shirley, is expecting a baby next month so the theft has come at a time the couple need regular income from the business.

He said: "I have some spare equipment so I have managed to keep going, but I am offering a reward of £300 for the return of the equipment."

If anyone has any information about the theft they can contact Burnley police on 01282 425001.
