COLA MOON
Rhythm Station, Rawtenstall
IT'S 10pm on the Monday after Christmas and space inside the Rhythm Station is at a premium.
This group of young lads from Ramsbottom and thereabouts have built up an astonishing following in the short time they have been writing.
They have played more gigs than many signed bands and handle themselves with a verve and self-confidence totally at odds with their age.
Already they have old, as well as new, material and while the fans greet old favourites including Tangerine Tower, The More Things Change and Robbers Dog with enthusiasm, everyone in the bar afterwards was talking about The Photographs, a new, beautiful and evocative song.
Although frontman Alex Kirkley was suffering with flu and was a little way off his usual cheeky-chappy persona, the band triumphed through the sheer variety of pace and style in their set.
Drummer Mike Partridge left the stage to great applause following a spectacular solo.
The band are currently in the studio mixing their second single, which is due for independent release early this year.
Watch this space for details of the single and their live dates.
