Blackburn Hawks 7 Romford Raiders 3

THE dynamic duo were at it again - this time it was Romford's turn to feel the heat.

Andrew Dickson and Lamonte Polet have been the scourge of ice hockey defences the national over this season and on Saturday at the Arena they showed just ow hot they are.

Polet is top scorer in the English Premier League and another hat trick leaves him a couple ahead of his main challenger - Dickson.

Not that the Canadian-inspired Hawks had everything their on way. Far from it.

The Raiders were actually ahead on four minutes and were level at 3-3 with just over 10 minutes remaining.

But Polet and Dickson are nothing if not persistent and they saw to it that Hawks stay clear of the pack and on course for the title.

It was a shame there wasn't a bigger crowd to witness another excellent display. Saturday's attendance of 905 represents roughly the average and officials admit "deep concern" despite this term's success.

The crowds have increased only marginally on the previous campaign when Hawks spent most of the time in the doldrums at the opposite end of the league table.

So much for the theory that a winning team will get the crowds flocking in.

Period scores: 2-1, 1-2, 4-0.

Scoresheet: Danny Mackriel 1+0, Billy Price 0+2, Andrew Dickson 2+2, Lamonte Polet 3+1.
