STUDENTS proved themselves to be the upper crust at a national competition.
Trainee bakers from Blackburn College took 13 trophies and 50 awards at the Cardiff Bread and Confectionery Exhibition.
"It was a splendid result and all the students put in extra work in half term and after classes to achieve this excellent result," said lecturer Ian Sutherland.
