AROUND 20 lottery millionaires from Lancashire could be living it up after winning the big one in Camelot's prize draws.

And jackpot winners who scoop millions of pounds each week in National Lottery draws usually pay off their mortgage, buy a car and then go on holiday, says the company.

According to new statistics released today it really could be you, with one in every 70,000 people becoming a lottery millionaire. Camelot spokesperson Carolyn Fitzgerald, who lives in Chorley, said: "The figure means that in Lancashire there could be as many as 20 big winners living the life of luxury but with only two opting for publicity I suppose we will never really know.

"Because of our commitment to people's right to keep their win out of the public eye it is very difficult to judge whether particular places are lottery hotspots or not - but Blackburn has certainly had its fair share."

Big winners from the area include the factory worker who scooped £17 million in a roll-over draw, single-mum Catherine Brindle, who won £2.2 million in January 1995 and Alan Gallagher, who was among 133 jackpot winner who received £122,000 each earlier that month.

Carolyn, who used to work for the company as a winner's advisor, revealed: "When people win such huge amounts of money they are sometimes in shock but the first things everyone wants to do are pay off their mortgage, buy a new car and go on holiday.

"As an advisor I very often met people who had promised huge amounts of the money to family and friends, which is also something everyone wants to do.

"But one of the most unusual ambitions was an elderly man who just wanted some new teeth and glasses."
