REGARDING your article (LET, January 7) about Belthorn being missing from the map of Hyndburn, in my opinion we shouldn't be on it - we should be on a map of Blackburn. So should Knuzden, another community of Blackburnians.
When local government was reorganised in 1974, the people who drew the lines on the maps left most of Blackburn's suburbs outside the borough. All the northern suburbs, Wilpshire, Clayton-le-Dale, Mellor, etc, finished up in the Ribble Valley. There's even one street in Feniscowles, namely Moulden Brow, now in Chorley.
J HOUGHTON (Mr), Belthorn Road, Belthorn, Blackburn.
