DISCOUNT department store TJ Hughes, which has a major store in Blackburn, reported a bumper Christmas.
The retail chain saw sales increase by 12 per cent over the Christmas period with men's wear particularly strong.
And Merchant Retail Group, which owns the Perfume Shop in Blackburn shopping centre also reported strong sales over the festive period.
Sales were up almost nine per cent in the five weeks to January 2.
