AN EXCITING jungle mural has brightened up a drab school playground.
Pupils at Rosegrove Infant School, Owen Street, Burnley, painted the mural as part of a project to improve their play area.
Headteacher Angela Barker said that before the improvements the playground was bare, drab and uninteresting.
The school enlisted the help of Groundwork East Lancashire and Action Factory community arts project to design a more stimulating outdoor play area for the youngsters.
A dilapidated shelter in one corner of the playground was demolished, instantly making the area larger and more open.
The children's mural was mounted on the wall and now they are just waiting for the final painting of the playground surface to be done.
The school has entered the Lancashire Evening Telegraph's Grimewatch competition, which rewards all kinds of green projects.
Judging takes place this month and winners will be announced in March.
