A 45-year-old woman found dead in her car is thought to have been there overnight.

Sheila Smalley, of Herbert Street, Burnley, was discovered at 9.15am yesterday in the car park at Barnoldswick Civic Theatre.

She was sitting in the driving seat of a Land Rover.

Sheila, a youth community worker, had been at a meeting at the Civic Hall the previous evening.

Police said she left the meeting and went to her Land Rover where she collapsed, possibly from a heart attack.

A post mortem examination was due to take place today to establish the cause of death.

East Lancashire coroner David Smith has been informed.

A police spokesman said: "We were called to the scene when a woman was found in her car not breathing and we believe she may have been to the civic theatre the night before.

"There are no suspicious circumstances."
