VOLUNTEERS from a community association spent the weekend planting trees as part of a green initiative in Darwen.
Ewood and Fernhurst Community Association has been taking part in the Darwen Valley Parkway Project which aims to create a green corridor in the town.
Along with members of the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers they are planting 2,000 trees in the area for the Year 2000.
