VAN drivers are being warned to fit alarms to their vehicles after £2,750 worth of goods were stolen in two raids.

Thieves took 120 Richwood baby suits from a van in Moss Street, Great Harwood. The fleece jackets and trousers for children aged up to two years, worth £2,400, were taken from a Ford Escort van.

In a second incident, raiders stole power tools including four drills and a jigsaw, worth a total of £350, from a similar van in Elm Street.

Police are linking the incidents and say raiders broke into both vans by removing the rubber seal from a rear window.

Inspector Bob Ford said: "People who own works vans should make sure they remove valuables or fit an alarm."

Police want anyone who has been offered baby clothes or with information about the incidents to call them on 01254 884800.
