I WAS so pleased to read (LET, January 18) about Lancashire County Council reversing its policy on the closure of old folk's homes.
To me, their decision to hand the running and budgets of the homes over to an independent direct service organisation and not to close them showed compassion, understanding and, most of all, that the councillors cared.
They could not put the old folk through the trauma that Blackburn with Darwen Council have.
It showed that they are doing what councillors are elected to do - taking the views of the people to the council chamber, which our ward councillors certainly have not - and the residents of Shadsworth and Mill Hill have yet to be told why.
