AS part of my journey to school in Lammack, Blackburn, I have to cross the road at Four Lane Ends, but because traffic lights there allow pedestrians so little time, I find myself having to run across as soon as the traffic comes to a halt.
This is made virtually impossible as some drivers decide they have waited long enough and go through when the lights are on red.
I had accepted this as the dreaded part of my journey until the other day when a taxi went through the lights on red in the middle of my crossing. The first thing I heard was a screeching of brakes and saw the bonnet heading towards me.
Due to my own quick thinking I managed to run backwards and avoided the car hitting me - by inches.
I would like to thank the drivers who showed concern in asking if I was all right - something the taxi driver didn't even bother to do.
Perhaps the next person won't be so lucky and, as I know a lot of pedestrians feel the same as myself, I hope this junction will be made a safer place to cross.
