ONE sees (LET, January 16) that, among their other theme weeks, Blackburn with Darwen Council are going to have a 'Daft Week.'
Are we to presume that at last, the councillors are going to come out and perform in public as the true jesters and comics that most people think they are in private?
It is highly appropriate that for this they have chosen the week that they are imposing their annual massive increase in Council Tax for ever-decreasing services.
Instead of sorting the shambles that Blackburn is rapidly declining into, they choose to waste immeasurable amounts of public money on silly schemes to celebrate the birthday of someone whom most of them don't give a damn about.
If they really cared for the people's wishes, they would have directed this money to saving the old people's homes which they seem to detest with ever-increasing vigour.
The only people who seem to care about the new millennnium in general are politicians and then only to see it as a money-grabbing racket.
