MORE than 60 workers at a shower components firm could lose their jobs as part of a review being carried out by company bosses.
Owners British Home Doors are considering transferring production of shower trays from the Aqualux factory on Ribble Business Park, Blackburn, to other sites, including their Birmingham headquarters.
Malcolm Griffiths, commercial director of BHD, said the company was in a period of consultation with workers and no final decision had been made to close the factory.
But he admitted that there was a possibility of 69 redundancies.
A worker, who did not want to be named, said: "They have told us it's not cost effective to keep us open when the work can be done cheaper elsewhere."
Mr Griffiths said he was not prepared to discuss the reasons for the possible transfer.
Staff are angry at a lack of consultation and claimed bosses were preparing to close down the factory.
They said BHD had offered a week's severance pay to staff who have worked at the factory for less than two years and redundancy packages for longer-serving employees.
