YOUR article (LET, January 6) about the closure of the Polish Ex-Servicemen's Club in Blackburn, brought back memories for me.
As a little girl, I was allowed to go to the club on a Sunday night during the school holidays with my grandparents, Tom and Margaret Wilkinson. I was always warmly welcomed by all members, especially the secretary Mr Romuald Foks and his wife.
My fondest memories are of learning to dance, playing bingo and singing Happy Birthday in Polish. I can still remember the words.
I was sad to hear that the club is closing and I would like to thank everyone there for making it such a memorable part of my childhood.
