GOLDEN wedding couple Arthur and June Ogden have asked family and friends not to send cards or gifts for their big day but instead to donate money to two local churches.
Mr and Mrs Ogden of Lime Avenue, Todmorden, are celebrating their golden wedding today with a party for family and friends at Todmorden Conservative Club.
Mrs Ogden said: "We have asked that donations be sent to either St Mary's Parish Church or the Central Methodist Church.''
Cornholme-born Mr Ogden, 76, was a joiner and funeral director with his own business, retiring only three years ago.
Mrs Ogden, 72, was born in Todmorden and worked as a weaver.
The couple have a son Stephen, daughter Susan Patricia, and three grandsons.
Both are still active bowls players in the Todmorden League.
Poetry is Mrs Ogden's other main hobby and she has written a poem especially for the occasion.
