A MAN was found asleep in the chairman's seat in Hyndburn magistrates' court.
And when he appeared before Blackburn magistrates William McDonald said he thought he was at his brother's house.
McDonald, 31, of Police Street, Darwen, admitted being drunk and incapable and was granted an absolute discharge. Wendy Shackleton, prosecuting, said a court usher found McDonald asleep in the central chair with his feet up on the bench.
When woken by a police officer he said: "Do you want a fight?" The officer sent for assistance and while they were waiting McDonald fell asleep. "The officers had to help him out of the building because he could not walk on his own," added Miss Shackleton. McDonald told the court he had gone to see his brother who lives in Accrington. "I thought I was at my brother's house," he said.
