REGARDING H Bolton's account (Letters, January 26) of nearly being knocked down by a taxi in Blackburn, may we ask was it a taxi or a private hire car?
Please get your facts right before you point a finger. If it was a 'black cab' taxi, we agree with your putting your view into print.
People today call all cars that carry people about for hire or reward a taxi, but this is simply not correct. A taxi in Blackburn is a 'black cab' - all the rest are private hire vehicles.
Remember, there are 68 black cabs and well over 500 private hire cars in the town. So, you see, it is simply not fair to call all the vehicles taxi's.
N FORREST, on behalf of the 'black cab' drivers of the Boulevard, Blackburn.
