SIX people were today being quizzed by detectives over the suspected murder of a factory worker who died after being engulfed in flames.
And police leading the investigation into the death of Parvez Hussein Shah appealed for people who may have important information to come forward.
Mr Shah, 23, of Princess Street, Great Harwood, died in hospital after suffering 75 per cent burns in a fire at his home early on Sunday, January 24. Mr Shah is believed to have crashed through a window and onto the street while he was on fire.
Detective Inspector Martin Worden said: "Six people from Great Harwood, both men and women, have been arrested on suspicion of murder."
The people were due to be interviewed in police stations in East Lancashire today.
Detective Superintendent Bob Denmark, who is heading the murder inquiry, said: "I would still like to hear from anybody who has information and may now feel able to come forward. If anyone from the Asian community has concerns about approaching us, we can arrange for someone to interpret for them."
Last week Det Supt Denmark said he was not satisfied with suggestions that Mr Shah's death was suicide.
Paper packer Mr Shah lived at the Princess Street with his wife Nahid, 21, and their three-month-old son Hamza. Nahid's parents, Javed and Parveen Shah, live in the house next door.
Anyone with information can call the incident room at Great Harwood police station on 01254 884800.
