A WORKER at an underlay manufacturer had his head squeezed in machinery while working on a production line last night.
Andrew Finley, 31, suffered head injuries and had to be helped down from a gantry he was working on at Duralay, Broadway, Haslingden.
Paramedics were first on the scene at 7.15pm and found Mr Finley conscious, but collapsed on the top of the 15ft high gantry. They placed him on a spinal board and gave him oxygen before calling out firefighters.
Sub Officer Nigel Boden, from Rawtenstall Fire Station, said: "He had been working on a production line and he got caught in the machinery. It had squeezed his head and he collapsed on the gantry with head and possibly arm injuries.
"We put him on the board and on to a forklift truck and then lowered him to 10 to 15ft to the ground."
Ambulance staff had been alerted to the incident by other colleagues. Mr Finley was taken to Bury General Hospital where his condition was described as stable.
