AN investigation is to be carried out after a family claimed they found a piece of rubber in a bowl of cornflakes.
Anthony Murray said his four-year-old son Jason was eating breakfast at his home in Cheetham Street, Blackburn, when he found the mysterious item.
Mr Murray and wife Tracie have no idea what it is.
Mr Murray said: "They were Kellogg's Cornflakes. He has them all the time.
"The first thing he asks in the morning is if he can have some cornflakes.
"He must have put the piece of rubber in his mouth and started coughing. He spat it out and gave it to me.
"I was really worried."
Mr Murray said the rubber must have been in the box of cereal when it was opened.
He said the box was kept out of reach of Jason and his brothers Daniel, 11, and Anthony, eight, and seven-year-old sister Chantelle so they could not have put it in.
He contacted Kellogg's who have promised to look into the claim.
A spokesman for Kellogg's said: "Kellogg's operates stringent quality control procedures and takes any complaint extremely seriously.
"We are aware of this incident and once we receive the item concerned, we will carry out a full investigation.
"Until such investigation is complete, we are unable to comment further."
