A TEN year-old boy from Worsthorne is the latest youngster to be struck down by suspected meningitis.
Public health officials are waiting for the results of laboratory tests.
A spokesman for East Lancashire Health Authority said: "The public health programme has been carried out and the relevant people have been notified and contacts chased.''
Burnley Health Trust representatives have visited Worsthorne Primary School and letters have been to parents as a precautionary measure.
A further 21 cases have hit all areas of East Lancashire since Christmas Eve.
Five cases are from Blackburn, one from Darwen, four from Burnley, three from Hyndburn, two from Pendle, three from Rossendale and three from the Ribble Valley.
