Book review
LED ZEPPELIN: From Early Days To Page And Plant, by Ritchie Yorke - The proofreaders who allowed this to get into print should be ashamed of themselves.
Written by one of the band's closest confidantes, it was first published in 1975 and skilfully updated in 1993.
The story of Page, Plant, Jones and Bonham's blend of hard rock and Celtic mysticism with folk and Eastern influences is wonderfully told, up until 1993. But the additions which claim to bring this third edition up to date are a disgrace. The short, error-riddled chapter at the end may as well have been based on a glance at Page and Plant's last two record sleeves. To make things worse, the preceding chapters have not even had the tenses changed to reflect the chapter which is tagged on.
The discography stops at 1992 and the book seems to ignore the wonderful rebirth which Page and Plant underwent with their No Quarter album and tours.
An insult to their legacy.
